Guys, here is a voice from Europe. First of all, in the case of developing countries, better to compare the so called life opportunities (water, housing, education, job etc.) than abstract political structures. (China is not a communist dictatorship and cast-society India is not a democracy in classic sense). Needless to say, current China provides much much better future for their citizens. But the China-shock makes Indian life healthy and cathing up has been started. As a European I feel very positive for both countries. One question for the Chinese to meditate: Can a country become rich and powerful without democracy? One question for the Indians: Can a country become modern without industrialization? Hope you will be successful.

Well said Rahul again..

Ursri, More than saying that tibetans ""preferred India"", they had no choice but to flee to India which was on the other side of the border.. fortunately for them India is the best host for any refugee whom it treats as Guest.. also India is the root of their buddhist culture..

So this is a rare occassion where compulsion was the same as desire.. So tibetans were both forced to flee to India, and they at the same time also preferred India to any other country, when they had to leave tibet

Titan....

I was going through your posts and I find all of them rather amusing...you ask Gurudev to post updated topics and you manage to get an article from GNU dated 2006.. then you try to argue with facts by throwing articles at us saying.. Hey India is not far behind us.. even you guys have internet censorship...What are you trying to tell us??? That we shouldn't ban sites trying to promote terrorism.. that we shouldn't preserve the integrity of our country when people posts anti-islamic quotes on rediff during the glasgow attack..India is the adobe for almost all religions in the world..be it muslims, christians, hindus or buddhists.. If someone throws insults at our muslim brothers, we would rather request the website to stop publishing that..... But look at you dear friend.. what all sites can u access??? even if u want to go to the loo, dont u need permission from your govrnmnt???

I believe we all know what you are trying to do here...To quote your own words ""The probelm is NOT democracy, it is democracy in India"".... So lets take it easy and argue reasonably rather tha arguing on topics that you want to.. with links from some old sites as well as lesser known groups.. Grow up boy :-)

Btw,

Did anyone read today's news about Indian communists:

""West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and CPI-M Politburo member Biman Bose on their way to the staue of German social philosopher and revolutionary communist leader Friedrich Engeles to pay homage on his 188th birth aniversary at Esplanade in Kolkata on Wednessday morning.""

Seems the communist comrades are fine with following non-indian philosophy when its comes to communism. No surprise if they pledge alliegence to communist nations rather than India.

Sure, China will be democracy. But if I had a choice between communist China and democracy India , I would like to choose communist China. The probelm is NOT democracy, it is democracy in India. I do know the difference between N. Korea and S. Korea. I do know the difference between China and India too. I am not a communism supporter, actually, I am a hater. Compare to democracy chinese community like Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore, the mainland China is far far behand. But when facing the reality, I think a good communist goverment like preset chinese government is still better than a malfunctional democracy government like India. If the democracy India cannot beat the communist China past and now, India has now way to win the race in the future.

Haha
Look who is talking about democracy.. A communist supporter!!
There is a saying in India which goes on these lines.. be a communist to a communist ;)

When a communist government can put filters on the internet for its entire population,.. whats wrong in others filtering their views / their supporters views?

So now you understand how it feels to be in a communist land when your views are not respected. Just for a simple comment you wanted democracy! What about those whose entire life and views are being banned/filtered/oppressed like this in communism :)

This is how those who are opposed to communism feel in China, when their views are deleted! Which is why I said China should become democracy.
Dont ask for selective democracy only to publish your views.. every view matters and that is democracy..

By the way I didnt delete your comment, it went to spam folder since you had pasted more then 2 urls in the comment. okie
