Can’t these political parties do developmental work without hurting the religious sentiments of the people of this country?
Be it the religious minorities or the majorities, the political parties of India have only used them as vote banks in this country.
While the BJP and other ideological allies of it have used the majority sentiments to fuel their vote bank, the so called secular parties led by Congress have used the minority sentiments to maintain their vote supplies.
Inspite of the minorities of India consistently voting for the Congress party over the past 60 years since Independence, the Sachar committee report clearly proves that the successive Congress led governments at the Centre have failed to improve the status of minority muslims in this country. But look at the Irony, the same Congress is again using the Sachar Committee report, which actually is a failure report on the performance of Congress, to get more muslim votes!
India is not Pakistan. In Pakistan everything related to other religions might have been demolished and destroyed, the recent one being the attack on Buddha . Hindus who were 15% of the population of Pakistan in 1947 are less than 2% of its population today! Where did the others go? On the other hand In India, being a true secular nation, the population of Muslims has steadily increased. Every Indian is proud about the religious diversity of this country. Every known religion of the world exists and flourishes in India today.
The BJP and allies hurt the sentiments of minorities of this country by the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992.
The UPA government led by the Congress is all set to do a similar Babri Masjid on Hindus by hurting the sentiments of the majorities, by moving ahead with their plans to destroy the Ram Sethu, a historical bridge that connected South India to Srilanka at the Palk Straight when the sea level was lower millenniums back. The Government wants to build a deep sea canal called Sethusamudram here, by destroying a large part of the Ram Sethu bridge.
It all started with a Blunder called Sethusamudram , and the latest one being the controversial affidavit filed by the Government of India with the Supreme Court, stating that there is no historical evidence to prove the existence of Ram and Ram Setu .
Well dear, who the hell needs a historical evidence for Ram Setu when you have an archeological structure right in front of you? First investigate and do research about it, come out with a concrete scientific explanation about the reason for its existence. If it was not buit by Ram, then there should be atleast somebody else who built it. It is definitely not a natural structure. Look at the aerial photographs below. Can a natural structure be as precise as this?
As one of the blog readers rightly commented saying, The Congress party should stop using the name of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji thoughout his life believed in Ram, and even his last words while dying were Hey Ram. And today Congress party itself is saying that Gandhiji’s beliefs were baseless !
Yes, looks like the Congress has moved from Hey Ram in 1947 to No Ram in 2007!

And as for Ram, even if we for a moment stop debating about the historical evidence of the existence of Ram, isn’t it a fact that he is worshipped by the majorities of this Country as God? Will the Congress/UPA parties ever dare to say that There is no historical evidence to prove the existence of Allah!
Its simply ridiculous to make statements like these and play with the sentiments of the people and create unnecessary controversies which finally lead to a chain of events creating a social unrest in the country. Every person in this country has a right to his/her religion and any developmental activity should be inclusive, not exclusive, and should respect the religious sentiments of all communities.
Its completely unacceptable when a Government whose primary responsibility is to maintain the law and order situation in the country, instead starts providing a window of opportunities for creating social unrest. Any sane person knows the outcome of a provocative statement like There is no historical evidence to prove the existence of Ram or Ramsetu !
There was no historical evidence of Mahabharata either, till the submerged ruins of the city of Dwaraka were found in the seas of Gujarat some time back. Dwaraka is mentioned in Mahabharatha as a city which was swallowed by the sea after the Great war. What will the government do, if it destroys the Ramsethu today and tomorrow its found that this was indeed a man made ancient construction? What about the loss of a cultural heritage structure in this country? Does the Congress wants to create another Black Day in India?
Let me be honest. What worries me more about the destruction of this structure is the fear of a Tsunami in this region. Experts have repeatedly warned that the existence of this structure has been protecting the western coast of India, especially the coasts of Kerala, from the disastrous tsunamis that are a frequent phenomenon in the eastern seas of India. The moment this structure is removed, the western coast of India becomes exposed and vulnerable to the tsunamis from the east.
Kerala will be at a greater risk. The chances of the loss of life and property in Kerala will become bigger. Not only that, but the large amount of Thorium deposits of India that are found in the shores of Kerala will get washed away! I am surprised why there is not much protest in Kerala against the destruction of this bridge! Probably it is a little known fact that it was the existence of Ram Sethu which prevented a greater loss of life and property in Kerala during the previous tsunami that stuck the east coast of India!
In a nutshell, the people of India should at any and every cost prevent the construction of SethuSamudram Canal if it is going to be done by destroying the Ram Sethu.
The moment we Indians stop identifying ourselves as Hindus or Muslims while casting our votes, and instead vote as Indians , all these present day political parties will cease to exist. Hope that day comes soon.

Hi Guru,
This is nice article. But i would like to suggest you to do some research on these lines.
“”The BJP and allies hurt the sentiments of minorities of this country by the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992.”"
According to my knowledge these lines are not true. If you do some research on it, you can also write a nice article on the topic. If you need any information on this you can contact me at vinay.telasang@gmail.com

Hello Friends
Don’t blame BJP or VHP ,shivsena as they are just trying to collect the votes of Majority
Think if there no party like BJP, and group like VHP what would be the condition at this situation.
Is there any body instead of above can help to protect ramsetu
afterall all above are hindu who became alert and united after so many situations of critism to religion….
However according to me Hinduism is not a religion it is a culture situataed/developed in the shores of SINDHU river.
so however follows the culture of SINDHU is HINDU………….

Dear Rohit
Thanks for correcting the lines. I have poor memory in remembering lines except for the experience and lessons learnt. Having educated how rich and aboriginal Sanatana Dharma is, I carry my duties as per dharma. Its my personal experience that Muslims did help we Hindus when we were in trouble. We are part of Indian Army services. We are indeed protected and helped by Muslim families. And we too have helped muslims, christians. They considered us as human beings first. S do agree there are extremists in any religion.
My intention was to have RSS or any other NGO organization clean, driven by able leaders with proper verifiers. If common man wants to serve, he can always do so at his will. He may or may not be part of any organization. Our kind of network is grp of volenteers who can reachout easily to the spot of need. We divert funds, connect local volenteers and if possible we travel to the site of service. Any one or any organization who can be of help to the needy with no expectation of returns are always regarded.

Prejudice will blind humans realize the truth. Most of the human races are jealous of Hindu Culture. No body has a date of birth of Vedas. No body can understand how such massive structures of literature were preserved till date with no computers and printing machine.
The Ramayan by Valmiki is not a myth. Please learn that when Ramayana was written there was no value for money. There were no instruments to cover the entire Asia. Valmiki had no Laptop with google earth or an Aeroplane or an atlas or wealth to have assistance from servants. He almost covered all the parts from entire Asia. To write a story which will not fetch him anything why would he have to imagine a Character of Rama and say that he himself is a great follower of Rama. Instead of calling the character as Rama he would have called himself as Valmiki as the King of Ayodhya and Rama as the blind follower of Valmiki. To write a myth or a story one does not need to quote the incidents with dates and places. You have dates and places exactly mentioned in Ramayana. Ramayana is History written and preserved by a Historian called Valmiki with out prejudice and expectations.
People out of jealous can not digest this truth that Hindus had such a great king as Rama and Queen as Seetha. They hardly want to have any differences between white Queens who sleep with any one whom they want to and romanticize their lives and become inspiration to many. They can not imagine a better character possible and to know and accept the truth that people like Rama and Sita are born in this Holy land. Just to substantiate their opinion they insist for evidence.
People like Karunanidhi doesn’t want to know that there was a king lived in his own country called Rama and ruled this entire Asia better then any body. If any body wants proofs for the things happened few thousands of years before should think of the following things:
1. no humanbeing has evidence for their respective father expect the word his or her mother says. It should be accepted that whom ever the mother refers to as father.
2. Those who seek evidences for existence of Rama should question themselves for evidence for their Father. A person who is approximately 14 years elder to him or her can be their father. In a small village the probability is more.
3. so these evidence seekers will have to have:
A)a written promissory note from their mother stating who their father is
B) a video tape showing their parents mating ( these evidence seekers may even doubt whether the trick photography is used in making the tape)
C) they should have a DNA test thoroughly conducted in his own presence. Very often fathers and sons DNA is very similar. Therefore even a grandfather can be a father.
So how do we convince these great people who don’t believe things what is believed by majority?
A) They will still not believe Rama and ask his or her mother for evidence for their father
B) They now believe Rama because Majority believes Rama is an Asian King and his existence is made as historic story that is narrated by every mother to her next generation. All Mothers do not lie.
No body is forcing any one to believe Rama.

I have never been to any RSS Shakhas any time…
The essence of all the posters is same, Good people at some positions are good for the organization.
Foriegn agencies can pour in enough money, but at the time of tsunami, money doesnt help to clean the environment, to burry the deadbodies. It needs will power, like Army.
I think RSS guys had that will power to do some thing for the country, and that might have come from the discipline they gathered at shakhas. There were many people watching the scenes, but why they never bothered to get into the action.
Ultimately to do something like that you need to get out of your petty ego’s, Now RSS Guys, i have seen them pretty many times in such occasions, where common people wudnt have bothered to see those scenes (Tsunami victims, Leprosy caught patients).
There are instances/occasions where some poeple might have used the saffron image of the RSS to get some votes or do some brain wash.
But i dont think its something bad to be named as a hindu organization, as long as membership is allowed for all and they are invloved in some good activities.
Which muslim outfit provides membership for a non muslims? Which christian outfit provides membership for non – christians?
I am not aware of some, please let me know if there are any.
But i have seen many muslim brothers in RSS helping each other and proving to be part of a movement to help the needed.

Do you want to doubt the good work they are doing as a duty towars the society. See what Arun is saying about the the work of Swayamsevaks during the Tsunami. Do you think it is being done without a good leadership. You will find the Swayamsevaks helping the others whenever there is need.

Dear Rohit
It was very much mention of RSS only. We still remember “”Namaste vatsale Matrubhumi…”" that we recited as prarthana. I have high regards to good ppl of any organisation. But only worried how such organization can mobilize true spirit of defense and service for political misuse. I don’t support any such occasional blunders too. Infact we wanted to contribute to PM fund during Kargil war. My brother himself is in army. He convinced us that how they them self (real helping natured group of soldiers) help family of matyr with our contribution. As Gurudev rightly mentioned in one post that there is a lack of accountability. If not the current Gujurat ppl would have been enjoying the downpour contribution towards earthquake relief fund even from abroad.
The point is our thought, action & contribution should not be misused even though the organization has respectable elders. There should be accountability and watchdogs within such organization.

HI GD,
I hve been part of RSS for quite a few years. Its really a good oganization. The concept of SWAYAMSEVEK is awsome. We all most have boys of all castes in our Shakha. The Master ( Leader of the Shakha) never sound communal to me rather they always talk about team bulding and national integrity. Even the games played in the Shakha are team based. And the decipline they maintan is really remarkable. The ursri must be talking about any other organization it cant be RSS. The way this organization is uniting the scattred energy of all Hindus is really appericable.

I agree with you to a large extent. I have interacted with a lot of RSS people and have not found them communal or fanatics. They only looked very eager to preserve Indian culture, but never said even a word about destroying anything.
Even Nehru had praised RSS on numerous occassions when the swayam sevaks were the first to rally in to help the affected during the natural disasters.
Unfortunately in India, it has become communal to talk anything pro-Hindu, and it is secular to talk anything Anti-Hindu!! Has any secular politician or intellectual said anything against this news item? http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?msid=216124

I agree with GD that RSS is out of sync. However, I want to preset a different perspective:
1. RSS is singularly responsible for what ever little organized energy of Hindus that we are seeing today. It must be credited for it.
2. BJP fritted away from the strict character, organizational discipline and ideological commitment because it opened gates ex-congress politicians and all sorts of elements for a short sighted power goals. In the bargain it lost its credibility and character beyond repair-even RSS has not been able to do ay thing about it.
3. Most social, cultural and corporate organizations have been facing culture shock since 1990s. Global economy and information technology have changed our lives, life styles and priorities. RSS is among the organizations still struggling hard to maintain its appeal in this fast changing era. It is struggling because the flow of human resources in to the organization dropped drastically. Pre 1990 decades RSS spreader easily through human contact and sakhas. This approach is no longer working. Our networking and socializing has become more virtual. RSS is yet come to grips with this change and continue its influence for good.
4. Finally, my humble appeal to Uri is, please don’t judge RSS or any other institution with interaction of one or two individuals. They may not be the best representatives of the cause and ways with which organization may be working. Further, RSS (like any social/cultural organization) which provides platform for like minded people to work together for a cause. If we find some thing wrong, we don’t have to disown it. We can very well stay with the system and try to influence it for the way we think is right. Is it not better than not having any plat form to work for or starting from the scratch all over again?

Intially we were part of RSS family. As the time passed especially during babri masjid time, RSS conducted meeting in a remote place and they tried to inspire us (brain wash – in crude words) to rise against babri masjid and demolish it.
Since we thought we should not create another history and issue must be solved by considering other options also. we opted out of RSS.
Currently we are part of more than one Global network. The network is created either through discussion forums/language forum or frnds circle. We share views, involve in services (includes time and effort) if not we contribute financially to organization where the needy is treated.
The pple of this network are more of human beings than diplomats. There was a group contribution of a contest prize to tsunami victims to Red Cross. It was with another group, got connected to expert doctors across globe. They got best equipment as much as possible and treated remoted villagers of Kerala.
Another group of frnds in US is contributing to education of financially backward children. They not only sends money, but plan their vacation such a way that they make sure the money is spent on child’s study with out being misused by greedy parents.
Thus we could ensure that ?????? ??? – alms/help to undeserved or not going to wrong hands.
It is only the matter of like minded ppl coming together. Service oriented mind is required first.

RSS as of today is out of sync with the reality. The first thing we need to do is to reinstate the lost cultural pride in Indians. We need mass leaders who can reach out to all the people across the country irrespective of their religion and language. While we have lots and lots of regional leaders, what we are missing is a true national leader.

Yes, many Indians lack cultural unity and a sense of cultural pride, pseudo secularism rules the minds of the so called thinkers who are mute spectators when there are protests agaisnt Da Vinci Code, but talk like some great authorities on Ram Sethu.
Arun
I am no great fan of BJP, but this one is a misleading fact by Congress. NDA initially approved the Sethusamudram which is a true fact, but the project approved by NDA DID NOT include destroying the Ram Sethu bridge, it was under UPA that the project location was altered to destroy the Ram Sethu. Every time I hear Abhishek Manu Singhvi speaking, I feel I should have been there to answer him
There were totally 6 options available to build the sethusamudram canal of which first 5 options posed no threat to the Ram Sethu. NDA had selected option 5 recommended by NEERI in 1998.
Today NEERI suddenly proposes option 6 to be used instead which requires destruction of the Ram Sethu, and not only that, option 6 is more costlier than option 5! Why this sudden change?
See http://sethusamudram.gov.in/Images/Map1.jpg which shows all the 6 options. Note that this is from the very SSCP government website.
New Delhi: When it initiated the construction of a navigation channel cutting through Adam’s Bridge, it didn’t strike the BJP that it would cut through the fabled Ram Sethu, which according to the Ramayan was built by Lord Ram to pass into Lanka.
The NDA was in power and the then prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee announced the implementation of the project in 1998. The Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project was meant to be a part of NDA government’s ambitious Rs-1,00,000 crore Sagar Mala programme to improve navigation around the peninsula.
The Congress – now under fire for the same project – wants the BJP to jog its memory.
“It’s hypocrisy on the BJP’s side and the public will see through them. The project was conceived, initiated, planned for execution and okayed by the NDA government,” says Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
The Congress does have facts on its side:
* The Sethusamudram project was initiated by the NDA in 1998 with Vajpayee’s announcement.
* Rs 4 crore was allocated in the 1999 Budget itself.
* In 2002, the then finance minister Yashwant Sinha told the Lok Sabha that the project was of high national importance.
* In 2004, Vajpayee called it a “cherished dream” of the people of Tamil Nadu.
* The DMK was then an NDA allay and had welcomed the project.
Only the NDA has now forgotten that.
Some elements within the BJP are tempering the opposition with a realignment proposal. “We are not against the project. We want it realligned. Why should the sethu be destroyed for it?” says BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Politics is the art of the probable and perhaps convenience. Little wonder then that details like who initiated a project and who took it further matter little to political players.
What matters is how far your vote bank grows.
In order to confuse innocent Hindus, Christian missionaries perform Mary festival the way Hindus perform Durga puja! What’s the need? Simple fact is that they want to convert people by hook or crook. They were successful with these tricks in Brazil and South East Asian Countries. Today, People of Philippines, Cambodia & Brazil suffer from lack of identity, inferiority as a national and are reduced to accept the dominance of whites. They are happy to be patted by whites. Wealth of all these countries is in the hands of whites and these governments act according to the diktats of Vatican. I have seen inmost of the European countries, where people of Eastern Asian countries are used as servants.
Same is the case with tribal and lower caste people in India. Missionaries entice parents with some gifts, take away young children and use them to hard labor in the church. As a guest of one missionary, I have experienced absolutely royal treatment of a feudal kind and have witnessed young tribal and lower caste people laboring-of course in a neat and sacred uniform.
One must be very clear about these motives. HINDUS can’t afford to be indifferent to these attacks. We also must sustain this campaign of truth and reach out to as many people as possible.

Hey Gurudev,
Good work and information about ‘Sethusamudram project’. I don’t think ASI is the agency that can conclude whether the bridge was man made. Top retired Geologist from the Geological Survey of India (also a Gov’t Agency) says that Ram Sethu is not natural. Here is the link to the article about Sethu Samudram Project and Ram Sethu that I read a few months back in Rediff.
http://specials.rediff.com/news/2007/jul/31slid1.htm
I’d rather believe in what a Geologist tells me after his research, not some babus from ASI who would doubt existence of their own country.
.
Gov’t of India may get better information if it consults its own employees from GSI

Please don’t lose your focus. Don’t allow your self to be distracted from this humiliation. It is time to clutch on to the throat of the real culprits behind this conspiracy of questioning our faith in our own country. It is sheer arrogance of the organized religious army of Vatican that they can stab us makes us bleed and get away.
It is a milestone attack in the long history of Vatican’s design to conquest India’s spiritual terrain. Don’t forget that Pope John Paul vowed to spread Christianity in India. Here some simple truths to gauge the designs of Vatican parivar-in which 10Janpath is an active member:
Create antibodies: Corrupt the minds of children with twisted history and erode cultural values and ethos that bind us together in India. They have been largely successful in this as our own people argue against our value system, culture ad religion.
Occupy political space: After dividing us create vote banks-combining Christianity with Islam and other castes (which change in each region) to conquer power or start dictating the government.
What we are seeing today is rapid progression of Vatican parivar towards logical conclusion to achieving this dream of conquering spiritual terrain of India. By DICTATING THE GOVERNMEN TO ANNOUNCE RAM NEVER EXISTED they are preparing for a final assault.
Wake up from your deep slumber; don%u2019t fall in to the trap of slavery once again. Don%u2019t let these attackers go unpunished

Excellent article Guru. Its indeed Babri Masjid by Congress. But its not just Congress playing the game. Quite a good percentage of Hindu masses go and vote someone who they know is doing damage to the society and the country. Awareness must percolate to the people at grass-root level. When something goes wrong, or even at a slightest sign of prediction of going against other religions, we see them protesting united. I think we Hindus lack that unity. Why don’t we all have our say through one or other media in a constructive way? Why don’t we collectively oppose to the idea of destroying something that everyone knows and believes is of great importance culturally and mythologically, apart from scientific and geographic.
I am sure every Hindu in this country chants “Ram” in one form or other at least once a day, yet they manage to turn a blind eye to a conspiracy like this. All I could say is it is very sad and hypocritical. Awareness need spread amongst us and we need to unite, be proud to be born Hindu and lets preserve our religion and culture. ???? ?? ??? ?? ?????? ??.
It is very true said by someone “people of a country only deserve the government they elect.”

OK they like to see the proof for the construction of bridge.
Lets consider this fact produced by the ASI “”There is no man made bridge in the Indian ocean between India and Srilanka.”"….
Yes…who said there is one, we believe the bridge was constructed by “”Vanaras”" under the leadership of a man who is an incarnation of God.
What difference would it make, had that been built by a man?
Let me ask a question… “”Can those who want evidence to show Ramayana happened, prove that Ramayana did not happen”"? No one can ever prove it… and this is the best proof against the pseudo secularists. UPA might end up destroying it, but that will leave scar on our history. It will be a black day when that happens.
