Yes I know they are still in use, but they are the already manufactured ones, they have not been BANNED.
But their future production is stopped and there wont be any such controversial coins from 2008 onwards.

Already half of the world is in Jehadi mania and Bushmania, violence is no answer to all this. If an alien looks at earth, he will probably think that humans are a species gone mad!

If people start voting for honest and hard working candidates, who work for the society and country, all problems will be automatically resolved. But when? When WE INDIANS decide to use common sense atleast on the day of voting

Who told u that the 2 rupee coin has been discontinued? It is very much in circulation.

What is the stupid Govt planning to do about the ‘cross’ on the 1 Re coin??????? I don’t trust this pseudo secular govt. The govt should remove the 1 and 2 Re coins out of circulation…..good riddance to bad rubbish.

I am glad it was a Cross. In this congress led goverment, it could have been an Italian Pizza on the coin as well. I would love to see old historical symbols on the coins though… from the times of Kanishka, Mauryas etc

As per this info, “”RBI has already released a press release saying that the controversial cross design is being replaced with a new design of a bharatnatyam nrutya mudra, i.e a dance posture from the ancient Indian dance form ‘Bharatnatyam’
