Pakistan has to act, else the world will react.

Every time whenever there was a terror attack on India, and when India said that groups from Pakistan were involved in it, Pakistan used to ask for evidence. And for every evidence India gave, it used to say, this is not enough! But not this time!!

The Indian Evidence

This time the evidence points directly towards Pakistan so obviously that Pakistan has to use all its brains to prove otherwise!

For the first time Indian forces have nabbed a terrorist on the spot of the terror attack , and he is a Pakistani – a resident of Faridkot near Multan in Pakistan’s Punjab province – and is a member of the suicide squad of the Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taeba(LeT) . How will Pakistan prove that he is not a Pakistani? How will Pakistan deny the evidence he has provided about the terrorist camps in Pakistan?

The India fishing trawler Kuber that was captured by the terorrists who killed all its crews and used it to sail towards Mumbai. How will Pakistan explain terrorists being able to cross Pakistani sea waters and enter Indian waters without the active involvement and support of Pakistani forces? Will Pakistan say that it has no control over its coastal borders, except for that it can capture of scores of Indian fisherman every now and then alleging that they entered the Pakistani seas?

How will Pakistan deny the satellite calls made by the terrorists to Karachi in Pakistan while sailing towards India? The US has joined India in the investigations following the terror attack, and its sophisticated call chaining technology can pin down all the mobile calls end to end. Even though India has a similar technology, the US technology is far more sophisticated, and its evidence undeniable.

The International Angle

The terrorists have this time targetted and killed scores of foreigners in the attacks on Taj and Oberoi hotels. The foreigners killed in the attacks include people from United States, Germany, Canada, Israel, Britain, Italy, Japan, China, Thailand, Australia and Singapore.

Given the track record of the animosity of Islamic militants against Jews, Nariman house in Mumbai was deliberately targeted by the terrorists since it housed Jews. The Rabbi and his wife in the Nariman house were wrapped in their prayer shawls and then brutally killed by the terrorists, along with other victims. Thankfully their two year old child Moses, managed to escape .

Israel has no track record of leaving alive those terrorists who kill its citizens anywhere in the world. For instance, Israel hunted down till the last man responsible for the Munich Massacre of its athletes even though it took about 20 years to have the last man killed!

On top of this, those who managed to escape alive, especially the foreigners have told the media that the terrorists were specifically looking out for Americans, Brits and Jews to kill them.

All this has ensured international involvement in the probe, and given the ample evidence against Pakistan, there is very little time left for Pakistan to act and prove that it is not playing “Hunting with the hounds and running with the hare” game in the war against terror.

US President Bush has told India’s prime minister, Manmohan Singh, in a telephone call that “out of this tragedy can come an opportunity to hold these extremists accountable and demonstrate the world’s shared commitment to combat terrorism,” White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said in a statement.

The Pakistani Response

First and foremost Pakistan always resorts to its Blackmail tactics. In the past when US had warned of attacking Pakistan, Pakistan had said that “If any other country attacks Pakistan, then pakistan will attack India!”

And now, Pakistan has told (read blackmailed) US that if tensions with India mount, then it will have to relocate most of its troops from Afghan border to Indian border! Which would mean that Pakistan wont be able to cooperate with US and NATO forces in the war against terror in the Afghan border.

Well, if Pakistan is so committed to fighting terror then why does it allow its soil to be used for terrorist activities? Every time there is a major terror attack in the world, the roots are traced back to Pakistan! It is well know all over the world about how successive Pakistani governments in the past have used terror as a state weapon to achieve their political ambitions. However today the Pakistani government says that the terrroists operating from Pakistani soil are non-state actors. Does it mean that Pakistan is unable to control and contain the terrorist activities in its soil? Its internal security allows terrorist camps to flourish and its border security allows terrroists to leave Pakistan with explosives and arms?

Well, in that case let Pakistan allow the Indian forces to enter Pakistan and nab the terrorists. If you cant destroy terrorist camps we will. You cant have it both ways saying, I cant control them nor will I allow you to control them. Right? The inefficiency of Pakistani administration cannot be an excuse to terrorist attacks in India and elsewhere in the world. If Americans can go to Iraq and Afghanistan, India can to Pakistan. Cant it?

Look at the differnt voices in which Pakistan has spoken after the attacks.

  • Initially it said that No Pakistanis are involved in the attack.
  • Then it said that it will send the ISI chief to India to cooperate on the investigations and then retreated back from that.
  • And then, the Pakistani President said both India and Pakistan are affected by terrorism.
  • Again, the Pakistani President said that even if somebody from Pakistan is involved in the attacks, the administration has nothing to do with such non-state actors.
  • And the latest news is that, the Pakistani President, fearing a punch back from India, has now appealed to India, NOT to punish Pakistan , for the act of its terrorists!

Well, Pakistan will then have to cooperate with India absolutely..

  • By handing over Daewood Ibrahim and co. to India. This is definitely long overdue. Everybody knows that Daewood lives in Pakistan. For how long will Pakistan continue to be a Mafia country?
  • Cooperate with India in capturing the heads of terrorist groups like LeT, Jaish e Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen etc who are roaming about freely in Pakistan.
  • Ensure that the banned terrorist groups do not resurface with other names.
  • Presenting solid evidence that it has rooted out terrorist camps in POK and elsewhere in Pakistan. Probably a periodic satellite survey of Pakistani areas would assert the claims, alongside other parallel verifications.
  • Ensure that its ISI becomes an apolitical organization and doesnt keep running parallel government. Even the US intelligence is clear about the ISI involvement in the recent Indian embassy blasts at Kabul, Afghanistan. So either the Pakistani government and military have directed ISI to carry out the blasts, or ISI is running a parallel government in Pakistan. And neither of the two can be tolerated by India. If Pakistani government cannot control its people, terror groups or ISI, why should India suffer for that?
  • Stop all sorts of assistance to the Kashmiri militants, moral or otherwise. For a second, let Pakistan imagine India providing the same moral support to the freedom fighters demanding separation of their provinces from Pakistan in Sindh , Baluchistan , Balawaristan , POK, etc. If Pakistan doesnt wants that to happen, then it better get out of Kashmir too.

As per the latest news , India has infact asked Pakistan to handover the Mafia Don Daewood and terrorist leader Masood Azhar who are living in Pakistan.

The question is will Pakistan be able to do all this? Else the game wont continue for long. The moment people of India say enough is enough and vote an aggressive government into power, Pakistan would be left with very little to count on. This has happened in the past, if Pakistan can remember the war of 1971, when Indira Gandhi ensured that it was split into two, giving birth to the present Bangladesh. No international pressure will be able to stop an aggressive Indian government then, for it will be representing the anger of a billion masses that had been building up for over three decades.

Hope the Pakistani citizen wakes up before it is too late.
