On an average, every day 17 miners who work in the Chinese coal mines do not return home after the day’s work!
China is opening almost one new coal mine every week, to meet its growing energy needs, and is competing with US to become the largest global polluter.
Keeping pollution aside, Chinese coal mines are one of the most dangerous places to work at in the world today. Can you imagine 17 miners getting killed on an average every day!! Safety precautions are totally neglected. There is no value for human life. Workers are treated like replaceable robots! Just last year over 5000 workers have died inside the Chinese coal mines. Can you believe that ever since the Chinese communist party took over China in 1949, till today over 2,50,000 people have died in these Chinese coal mines!
Just last Friday 172 Chinese coal miners got trapped in Huayuan Mine Co and 9 more in a nearby coal mine, and all of them are feared to be dead, rescue workers saying that the 3300 feet deep mines where these helpless people are trapped is being flooded with water from the river Wenhe nearby. And the Chinese officials are terming this as a natural disaster!! Civil affairs minister Li has said the government DOES NOT normally pay compensation for people killed by natural disasters, but since this happened during PRODUCTION the government will give assistance! This disaster was again due to gross negligence by the authorities. Two other nearby mines were closed a week before this incident as the danger of flooding was known already, and yet these mines ignored safety and made nearly 600 workers to get down into the mines, only to be trapped and killed!
Riot police are put in place to lathi charge and silence the relatives of the trapped miners who have gathered around the site! The officials say some of the families might want to make trouble!! Look at the way the communist government of China treats its own people and their sentiments.
The state run news channel gave only a summarized 30 seconds report on the incident and all local Chinese reporters were ordered to leave the disaster site! The relatives of the trapped miners are been warned by the company officials not to come near the mine and not to speak to the media either!
By the way look at the motto of this coal mine company Absolute discipline and absolute execution of orders! How on earth can anybody call it a motto, it looks like the employees are treated like bonded laborers. Even as per Chinese law at a time only a maximum of 30 workers are allowed to work at each level in a mine. And in this mine, when there were all chances of a flooding and a risk of disaster nearly 700 people were working at the same time!! What a greed for money? no law, no value for human lives!
See the difference between India and China , development should always be FOR the people of the country, not AT THE COST OF the people of the country.
