The Men in Blue did it for India. India has won the first ICC 20-20 Cricket World Cup Championship. Click here to watch the final over of the finals

One needs a fire inside to win, and Indian team definitely had that fire as was visible throughout the tournament. Nobody dreamed that India would make it even to the finals. THEY CAME without much noise and fanfare. A young side with a relatively new captain. There were no big names in the team like Sachin, Ganguly or Dravid! They were just kids, nanne munnhe pyaare bacche
A team effort and a wonderful captainship is what is required for a team to win. And Indian team had that wonderful team spirit and an able leadership of the boy from Ranchi, M S Dhoni. The team continuously reevaluated the options and made necessary changes throughout all the initial matches. And that’s when THEY SAW an opportunity lying out there.
And that’s when they started to turn things around. Look at the beauty with which India made a comeback!

First, Yuvraj Singh set the tone with his six sixers in a single over in the match against England! Advertisity cause some men to break, others to break records! Yuvraj was THE tough man, and England got a taste of his toughness.
Next, by defeating South Africa which till then had never been defeated in this tournament they caused a major upset in the tournament. South Africa were shocked when Indians knocked them out of the tournament! South Africa had the additional advantage of being the host team, as the matches were being played in South Africa.
Then, an even bigger upset was caused by Indians when they defeated Australia in the semi finals. In fact Pakistan atleast gave a good fight in the finals against India. But Australians were hit for lots of great sixers by the Indian batsmen, and the Indian bowlers kept Australian batsmen wondering how to take runs! I think that the turning point in this match was the wicket of the Australian batsman Andrew Symonds who was proving to be dangerous to India.
Nobody expected that a relatively inexperienced India would win against the mighty Australia. The truth is, Amateurs built the ark, but professionals built the titanic
Stunning catch by the Indian player Dinesh Kartik in the match against Aussies
Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh hit the Aussie bowler Bret Lee for the longest six in the tournament
Finally, the grand final, a high voltage match that contained almost every possible combination of spice and anxiety of cricket. It was another typical Indo-Pak cricket match. The cup kept oscillating, sometimes in favor India and sometimes in favor of Pakistan. Indians kept their cool, Dhoni played with all his cards kept close to his chest, and finally THEY CONQUERED. Indians proved that success is failure turned inside out
I feel that the decision to send in Joginder Sharma to bowl in the last over against both Australia and Pakistan were master strokes by Dhoni. He has proved that he has a great cricket brain to be a successful captain. A captain who takes well calculated risks. He probably knows that those who are afraid to fall will never fly!
The dream of this 20-20 world cup trophy designer Amit Pabuwal from Jaipur, India came true with the trophy he designed being brought back home by the Indian team.
20-20 Hindi News glimpses about the final match
The Jharkhand Government (Dhoni belongs to Jharkand state) has announced that Captain Dhoni will be given the first Jharkand Ratna award. BCCI, the cricket board of India has announced 2 million dollars of cash price to the Indian team!
Indians also maintained the record that till to date Pakistan has NEVER defeated India in any world cup cricket match
But look at the statement which Paksitani captain Shoaib Malik made after loosing the match. He said First of all Id like to thank people back home and the Muslims around the world. We gave our 100% . Now what the heck is this of bringing religion into sports? Whatever it meant, an extremely unprofessional comment.
Actually with just 6 runs required in 5 balls in the last over, the match could have gone either ways. But the major disadvantage for pakistan was that it had no more wickets to spend, and Indians wonderfully made use of that fact! Infact the match was actually won because Indians kept taking pakistani wickets at regular intervals, and this made it possible to India to defend a score that was not really that big. Sending out Afridi for a duck who tried to be aggressive as soon as he came was another major turning point in the game. Probably Afridi thought that he will do another Yuvaraj on Austrialia

Yes you are right. Its high time that in India we also realize that sports exists beyond cricket, and encourage them all equally.
It actually has to do with the commercial things that go into it. Cricket generates a lot of advertisements and so a lot money flows into it from the sponsors. Slowly things are changing though, Sahara group now is also sponsoring hockey, I heard.

Then the Pakistan captain said something that was so irrelevant that I couldn’t believe my ears. So I looked at the highlights over and over again to make sure that I’d actually heard him say it. This is what he said to master of ceremonies, Ravi Shastri, who asked him a sympathetic question about the game after Shoaib had collected his loser’s medal:
“”First of all I want to say something over here. I want to thank you back home Pakistan and where the Muslim lives all over the world.”"
This is what he said word for word because it’s important to quote him correctly. The problem here isn’t the syntax, it is the sentiment. I don’t expect Shoaib Malik to be a politically correct intellectual, but it is reasonable to expect him to know the world of cricket that he inhabits.
It is a world where Muslims, Hindus and a Sikh currently play for England, where Buddhists, Muslims, Christians and a Hindu play for Sri Lanka, where Hashim Amla turns out for South Africa, where a Patel plays for New Zealand, where Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus play (and have always played) for India. Why would Shoaib think, then, that the Muslims of the world were collectively rooting for the Pakistan team or that they felt let down by its defeat? Did he stop to think of how Danish Kaneria, his Hindu team-mate, might feel hearing his Test skipper all but declare that the Pakistan team is a Muslim team that plays for the Muslims of the world? It is one thing to be publicly religious—Shahid Afridi thanked Allah and Matt Hayden and Shaun Pollock are proud, believing Christians—quite another to declare that your country’s cricket eleven bats for international Islam.
Is this the forum to talk about this? Shouldn’t Cricinfo and cricket’s online community stick to cricket and leave issues like this alone? No we shouldn’t, because Shoaib Malik chose to make it our business by saying it in team colours at the end of the ICC World Twenty20 final. He said something that goes to the heart of cricket’s loyalties, its culture, its plurality of race and faith and language. If Shoaib took in nothing else about the final, he must have noticed that the bowler who took his wicket was called Irfan Khan Pathan, that the Indian team’s most visible cheerleader, the guy who was hugging Indian players in turn at the end of the game, was one Shah Rukh Khan. I feel a residual distaste in even mentioning their names because both Shah Rukh and Irfan are admired in India for what they’ve achieved, not who they are. But sometimes it is important to spell things out and Shoaib could do with the instruction

hi all,
i am a fan of cricket sports and i am as happy as every other indian with the worldcup victory..but i am a bit of unhappy or unable to think how good it is to distribute crores and crores of ruppes to the players for winning the world cup…i mean i am not against distribution of awards or money or jealous.. but i guess there has to be some limit to it……they are also getting match fees which is given to them for winning only actually…i may be wrong but….i donnno

that statement by pakistani captain may be is to calm the country men down, because they may be afraid about what is going to happen when they are back to pakistan.
But such statements are really bad for cricket world.
Irfan, Yousuf are all proud to be muslims, proud to hold the tricolor, proud to be INDIANS.
What a contradiction with maliks statement and what we saw there…
Dhoni also made a statement “”Bhajji was not that confident since he was not getting yorkers right, Then why not give a chance to the new bowler who wants to prove self”"
Another “”I told sharma, i dont care whether we win or loose, but hold your nerve and enjoy the game”" something like that…
I think he need to polish his statements…., not to hurt others sentiments

It’s a joyous moment for all Indians!!!!!!!!!!!
Now atleast generation born in late 70’s and after 80’s knows the celebration of winning a world cup. My father used to say the success story of 1983 world cup winning team. Now I can say to my coming generation about joy of winning world cup. It’s ok we have won 20-20 world cup…but world cup is world cup….We have beat all the better teams and beat 2nd best team twice in this world cup.
You are right guru….statement of Pakistan captain shows what were there mindset when they were playing game. May be he is not aware that muslims leaving in India were proud Indians when MSD and his boys lift world cup. It’s a coincidence that man of the match for the final was none other then a proud muslim leaving in India. What a moment for Indian sport first foodball, then hockey and now cricket……
As far as do we need coach? Or do we need top 3? Is concerned I think we need a good coach and we need top 3 for 50 over match too….But only thing is future of Indian cricket is in safe hands……

It was great display of cricket by both the teams.. Good captaincy by dravid and the most horrific decison by the batsman to go for that scoop shot.. if it was a fast bowler maybe the ball would have gone for a maximum.. but he tried that shot on a slower bowler..pakistan went for self destruction with that shot..anyway an awesome spectacle..
