   Vimanas or the ancient aircraft or aeroplanes did indeed exist as there is loads of supporting documentation about them in the historic Sanskrit texts as old as Ramayana and Mahabharatha. Pushpaka Vimana initially owned by Kubera and later by Ravana is mentioned in detail in the ancient text of Ramayana. Ravana kidnapped Rama’s wife Sita via the aerial route on his Pushpaka Vimana, there is also the narration of Ravana fighting the bird Jatayu in the sky from his Pushpaka Vimama.

   There are also ancient Sanskrit texts like Vymanika Shastra which describe in detail the construction and features of a variety of types of these Vimanas or aircraft.
